Flute Improv For Cold Fingers - Blue Skies, Bare Trees (AB Ray Western Cedar E minor Flute)

Flute Improv For Cold Fingers - Blue Skies, Bare Trees (AB Ray Western Cedar E minor Flute)

Amelia near Taos, New Mexico. The two of them left for a day to celebrate his birthday, and while there alone I carved out the bore by hand with a 1/4" gouge (no routering) and rounded the exterior with a planer, wood rasp, and sandpaper (no lathe work). It's not perfectly round inside, but that's fine (it's HANDMADE!) Richard drilled the finger holes and made sure the flue was uniform in length and depth. Otherwise, this was 'my baby.' It has a subdued, slightly breathy sound, and ...

Bent heater barrel?

Bent heater barrel?

I tapered off the nozzle end of the barrel as best as I could without a lathe, but then I noticed that the barrel itself bends a little bit. I'm not sure if that's a big deal or not. (this is the heater barrel for the RepRap I'm making). Blog: www.keegan.org

Dordrecht 6th change ringing bell retuned

Ringing bells it was clear that the 6th was not sounding as it should do. The Dutch bell expert Gideon Bodden had a look at the bell, took some measurements and calculated that it could be improved. We took the bell to my works and put it on the lathe. After tuning the bell looked a bit funny shaped but the end result is very satisfying, as you can hear also on some recent videos of Klockhuys. Manny thanks for you help Gideon, it was well worth doing it!! ... Dordrecht change ringing bells ...

How to Replace Honda Captive Rotors

How to Replace Honda Captive Rotors

a bunch of video on this car (1990 Honda Accord LX) and have lots more to show you in future episodes. Honda captive rotors are a pain to say the least. For the most part you can take them somewhere that is equipped with an on-the-car brake lathe to have them machined when they get warped but in this cast they were too thin and damaged for machining and needed to be replaced. I have to admit that this job does not always go this easy, it usually requires a lot more effort, some pain, ...

Wood Striper Lure Building PT 5 (Finishing the thru-drilling)

lip side. Remember when we started that pilot hole, this is what its for. So I mount my stock (plug) on the lathe with the lip side facing the drill chuck. I move the drill chuck so that its not terribly tight in the pilot hole, but in far enough where the wobble of the lure wont cause the lure to come off the drill or wobble and scratch the lure. Once its on I start my lathe (remember the speed needs to be set to the lowest speed to maintain safety) I crank the drill chuck so that it ...

GGR gets some new wagons

GGR gets some new wagons

indoors. The new wagons (at the back of the train) are hand made frm 3mm (1/8") external ply. The wheels are turned from 32mm (1 1/4") bar on an Axminster Sieg C0 micro lathe (blooming difficult by the way; I recommend a bigger machine if you have the space and cash) with the recess milled using a milling cutter in the lathe and a home-made jig on the cross slide. They are insulated with a nylon insert between axle and wheel. Buying the wheels from IP engineering is easier but this was fun! ...
