Well after a little support from some friends i finally took to the skies in a glider. This all took place at the Husbands Bosworth Gliding Centre in Leicestershire. Must say a big thank you to my pilot Rick (Alan for short) for the fantastic 30 min flight over the Leicestershire countryside which took in a flight over Bruntingthorpe Airfield see other vids for that. As a part of the Vulcan to the sky club pre season party, we were offered the chance to have a flight in a glider at The Gliding Centre at Husbands Bosworth Airfield in leicestershire. It was far too good ;D so I only filmed a litle bit lol XD, I spent the rest of the fligh just enjoying it and taking it all in :) (and taking the odd photo of course XD lol) ... Husbands Bosworth Airfield was built during 1942/3 and went into commission in August 1943 with Wellington Bombers of 92 Group. The airfield was constructed with 3 concrete runways, the main runway aligned east/west being some 2000 yards long. The airfield had 36 dispersal places, 4 aircraft hangars and a large Bomb storage area on the North Side. It was decommissioned in 1946. In 1948 the station camp buildings were placed under the control of the National Assistance Board for housing ...
