Kootenai Humane Society is the only non-profit animal adoption and rescue agency in Kootenai County, Idaho. It serves the communities of Kootenai County, Coeur d'Alene, Hayden, Rathdrum and Spirit Lake. At any one time, KHS houses about 200 animals and is the only shelter in the area that rescues cats. KHS has been a no-kill shelter since 2003.The KHS mission is to provide quality humane care, rehabilitation, adoption and education for the good of animals and their companions in our community....
