Nightmare for common man: Oil strike continues, petrol pumps

With the nationwide frenzy over shortage of fuel, Union Petroleum Minister Murli Deora said, "We regret the inconvenience caused to the people. We're trying our best to end the deadlock. I'm meeting the Prime Minister and also the unions to resolve the crisis." Talks between the government and striking oil PSUs failed late Thursday (January 8) night over the officers' insistence on getting an immediate hike in their wages as the agitation entered the second day, threatening a major disruption in supply of fuel across the country.
