Calling carbon traders "climate traitors," members of the Climate Crisis Coalition and Climate SOS gathered outside the 2nd annual NYC Carbon Trading Summit to demand an end to the market-based trading of greenhouse gas emissions credits and called for just solutions to the climate crisis. The climate justice activists risked arrest to voice their opposition to the financial trading giants at the Summit, including JP Morgan Chase & Goldman Sachs, comparing their carbon trading plans to those that caused the current financial crisis.

On November 30, 2009, citizens and activists gathered to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the shut-down of the World Trade Organization by protesters in Seattle, WA in 1999. Also on the agenda this year was the climate talks in Copenhagen which will no doubt offer false solutions (if any solutions at all) to global climate change in the interest of maintaining corporate exploitation of the global south. During this rally, Bank of America and CHASE bank were targeted for being Climate Criminals due to their funding of Mountain Top Removal in Appalachia as well as propagating the myth of "clean coal." Lots of Cops, No Arrests. 10/24/2009 - Squad cars and police from Seattle and Homeland Security disrupted business-as-usual at the federal building in Seattle today, responding to a protest agains cap-and-trade by Climate SOS and One Earth Climate Action group. WWW.CLIMATESOS.ORG Dressed in ploar bear costume, Climate SOS co-founder Duff Badgley joined One Earth activists to protest cap-and-trade bills on National Climate Action Day. The polar bear twice risked arrest by holding the SOS banner CAP-AND-TRADE = "TEMPLE OF DOOM" in the middle of the heavily trafficked 2nd Ave in front of the federal building. Twice police escorted Badgley to the curb. The police then surrounded Badgley on the sidewalk. The removed the banner from him. Numerous police officers talked with Badgley about getting arrested. Environmental activists, some dressed as Trillionaires for Bad Math today delivered a climate bill to Copenhagen, ahead of schedule. The mock bill was delivered at a 3 pm lecture at Columbia Universitys School of International Public Affairs hosted by Danish Climate and Energy minister Connie Hedegaard. Hedegaard is the chairperson of the UN climate summit to be held in Copenhagen this December, where many hope that a strong global climate agreement will be signed. Representatives of groups including Climate SOS and Rising Tide North America presented a 14-foot banner representing the climate bill currently being debated in the US Congress, which many consider essential for strong US participation in Copenhagen. The banner depicts a two trillion dollar note, representing the size of the new market in carbon dioxide emissions allowances that would be established by the Waxman-Markey climate bill that passed the House of Representatives in late June.
