More tours go up the mountain ahead of us before we leave the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy and leave the paved road and go up in four-wheel drive. We ride further above the clouds. We make a stop where we can see the Onizuka Center for International Astronomy and many cinder cones down below. We ascend way above the tree line where there is permafrost and the terrain is quite barren. Soon snow is visible.

As we continue on Saddle Road, we pass more lava flows and cinder cones. My Extra-credit Volcano Project

This is a composite volcano. I had a few technical difficulties and it dd not erupt the way real composite volcanoes erupt, in between a calm eruption and a violent eruption. The structure is not flat sloping like a shield volcano and not tall and steep like a cinder cone volcano. It is taler than a shield volcano and not as steep as a cinde cone.
