The rare breed of the NA Heel Biter (rare because a majority of their owners have been known to euthanise them before they're able to reproduce), or Canis familiaris irritatus molestus, produces a piercing bark that can sometimes go on incessantly. They are also known, of course, for biting the heels of unsuspecting humans. I know these things first hand because this particular specimen (her name is Midge) lives in my house. Sigh.
