Tropical Storm Ida -- Strongest Winds

Took this video between the Mitchell Center and the track/field right next to the bell tower. We had just experienced the strongest winds from Tropical Storm Ida about a minute before I took this video. I sound like a total geek...but this is what a weather geek sounds like when he's pumped up.

Tropical Storm Ida - Part 3

Tropical Storm Ida hit Mobile, AL the night of Monday November 9, 2009. The storm approached the area with 70 MPH winds, after being a category 2 hurricane with winds of 105 MPH the day before. This storm was an extremely unusual event for so being so late in the season. I took this video in between the Humanities/Chemistry parking lot and the Engineering building. Sorry it's so short, I couldn't stand there for too long because the camera was getting wet. ... tropical storm ida "university ...

Thunderstorm in Mobile - August 30, 2009

Welcome to Mobile, Alabama in August. When we gets storms here, we get storms. None of that drizzly crap they get back in Virginia...it either rains or it doesn't. When the weather is really going, we can have 3 or 4 storms a day (most of which occur when I have to go to class).

April 21st Thunderstorm

We had our first "real" thunderstorm of the year today, and this is a clip of the onset. Right after I stopped recording and went inside the skies opened up and all hell broke loose. Poured so hard you couldn't see 100 feet, wind was ripping the newly grown leaves off of the trees, and the thunder was so loud it shook the walls. I live for this sort of stuff. :^)
First Snowstorm 2009

We had our first "snowstorm" on January 27, 2009. We had about 2.5 inches of snow, and got 1/4" of ice after the snow fell. This is snow is from the same storm system that dumped 3 inches of ice on Kentucky, giving them the worst natural disaster they've ever seen. While I like winter weather, I don't think anybody likes the ice. Yes, I know I'm a dork and sound like one to boot. :P
