UofL President James Ramsey and the campus community honored one of the architects of that change Nov. 23 with dedication of the former Belknap Research Building as the John W. Shumaker Research Building. It started in 1995 when Shumaker became the universitys president, Ramsey said, and continued in 1997 when the Kentucky Legislature passed House Bill 1, the postsecondary education improvement act. Nursing students help administer H1N1 Vaccines

In a massive volunteer effort, nearly 400 students, faculty and staff members from the University of Louisville helped administer nearly 20000 doses of H1N1 flu vaccine. The event was held November 11 and 12 in a parking lot just south of Papa John's Cardinal Stadium. UofL partnered with Louisville's Metro Department of Public Health and Wellness during the event.

Cardinal Cam: Biodiesel Research

Eric Berson, an assistant professor of Chemical Engineering in UofL's Speed School leads a team of researchers in an effort to find a more efficient fuel for campus shuttle busses. Berson's team, in partnership with Sodexo, the university's food services vendor, filter used cooking oil from campus restuarants. That oil is then processed into a bio-fuel. The ultimate goal is to have all univesity shuttles running on this bio-diesel.
