In preparation for Thanksgiving, 2009, Frank dimassa and TH Culhane (having learned the simple procedures from Steve Lyons and Al Silva) installed two 2 KW solar arrays at the 460 Lucas green retrofit demonstration property that Frank purchased in Santa Rosa. Taking a foreclosure property we are showing that "green is the new red white and blue" and that average Americans can take care of much of their energy, water, waste recycling and food needs at home, thinking locally yet acting globally......

In October of 2009 TH Culhane, Mike Rimoin and Hanna Fathy of Solar CITIES converted a 6.5 HP 2 KW engine on Hanna Fathy's roof in the Zabaleen garbage community to run on biogas. We used the tri-fuel conversion kit from US Carburetion (a simple mount of a venturi adapter to the carburetor that took about 20 minutes to do) and then ran biogas made from kitchen garbage into the supplied regulator. When I went to visit Dr. Anand Karve and his daughter, Dr. Pria Karve, in Pune India in January of 2009 before joining the India Youth Cliimate Network's Climate Solutions Tour, they were kind enough to introduce me to this household where I was permitted to video tape the family's rooftop solar hot water and biogas systems and interview the head of the household.
