Burleson, TX honors those who serve(d) with the dedication of Veterans Memorial Park and the unveiling of an eagle statue. Had severe thunderstorms roll in ahead of a cold front, replete with vivid lightning and heavy rain. The tornado sirens even sounded. Was doing laundry LOL, when I looked out and noticed these altocumulus undulatus clouds. Had camera with me, so ... porchchase! LOL The beginning of a wet week here in North Central Texas as moisture from old Hurricane Olaf spreads into the region, along with several warm fronts/cold fronts/upper level disturbances combining to make for a lot of rain. Severe thunderstorms formed along a cold front, giving our area very heavy rain and gusty winds (recorded at 85 mph in the city of Burleson). Twin sister and I were at our local Wal Mart; did not tape the height of the storm (we were inside: too dangerous). As the storms moved off to our east, they provided a beautiful rainbow and an amazing lightning display as the sun was setting and night arrived (some of which I've taped here). Storms popped up in advance of a cold front, bringing 74 mile an hour winds, frequent lightning (500/600 recorded strikes every five minutes!), and brief heavy rain. The mammatus clouds were incredible, as well. Twin sis and I sheltered at local hospital in far south Fort Worth (TX) through the worst of it.
