KPCU: Receivership lifted

The high court in Nairobi has temporarily lifted the veil of receivership from coffee marketing giant, the Kenya Planters Co-operative Union. This effectively allows the organisation to resume normal operations, including receiving coffee from member - farmers. A hearing date for the case in which KCB had placed KPCU under receivership over a 700 million - shilling debt has been slated for the 16th of February.

A heavy storm wreaked havoc in Nairobi this evening, leaving at least three people dead and scores of others trapped under debris. 258 athletes from 15 disciplines are expected to represent the country at the next commonwealth games in New Delhi, India next year. This was revealed as the country awaits the arrival of the queens baton over christmas and will be received by president Kibaki on boxing day in Mombasa. Kenya is the 16th nation out of 71 countries in the relay to host the baton.
