Shanghai, November 7, 2009: Singapores very own Lam Chih Bing is flying the local flag high at the WGC-HSBC Champions at Sheshan Golf Club in Shanghai. After three rounds, he lies at +4, and more importantly, tied with Barclays Singapore Open 2009 winner Ian Poulter, and the 2009 British Open champion Stewart Cink. Not a long par 5 by any means for the pro, but still one that requires a good tee shot to clear the water and bunkers along the left of the narrow fairway. A great finishing hole where birdies (and eagles) will have the crowd cheering as the leaders come in.

This is not a long hole for the pros, but it is a treacherous one just ask Padraig Harrington who saw his approach trickle off the green into the water last year when he was charging for the lead. If hitting driver, the landing area beyond the left fairway bunkers are hidden from view, then the approach needs to have enough spin to hold the greens, especially when the hole is cut towards the back leaving no room for error at the rear when going for it.

Sentosas members play this as a par-5, but pros will play it as a tough, long par-4 for the Barclays Singapore Open. Evading the right bunkers is key, allowing a clear shot into two-tier green with a narrow entry point.

Water all along the left side, and thick rough and a bunker on the right of the narrow strip of a fairway makes this one of the most difficult holes on Serapong. But finding the fairway here with a driver can leave players with a short club and an opportunity to hit it close to the flag on this welcoming green.

The left side of the fairway is the place to be on this short hole. From there, a short iron will only be required to get to the green that is protected front and back by bunkers.

Using a driver, most pros should be able to clear the bunkers congregating around the middle of this short hole. But they will still need to find the fairway in order to hit the green thats angled away from the approach line.

Serapong Course - Hole 9, par 4, 392 metres

Serapong Course - Hole 9, par 4, 392 metres

The circular fairway bunker right in the middle of the fairway shouldnt come into play for the average-length professional. But anything left or right of the fairway makes hitting this uphill green very difficult. A strong hole where par is a good score.

Serapong Course - Hole 3, par 4, 439 metres

Serapong Course - Hole 3, par 4, 439 metres

Just standing on the tee box brings about the jitters. The hole plays to a severe dogleg left turn, and players have to hit through a chute to reach the turn. Right and left are out of bounds, and if you hit it too far, a large tree will block your approach to the green situated a ways downhill. Par is a great score here.
