"Lazy Summer Night" by Sons of Simon (late 60's)

A slight departure for me. I'm a sucker for this sound. Sensitive but still garagey. Moody as hell. I haven't been able to find out anything about the group which i imagine is made up of the Schulte brothers--deducing from the songwriting credits. The flip, "Stop and Wonder", is also quite good. Hope you enjoy.

"It's a Lonely World" by Kip Brandon (1968)

Cool song. Excellent production by the always impressive Charles Calello. Both sides are credited to Mike Petrillo, who wrote songs for the Four Seasons--thus the Calello connection. Whether this is actually Petrillo under a different name or Brandon actually existed is up in the air. If anyone knows fill us in. Hope you enjoy.

"Yesterday Was Mine" by Bryan (1968)

I posted the other side, "Learn to Love", quite some time agao and now here's the flip. Very Association. I'm not sure if this has ever been comped or is well known, but i think it's a whopper of a track. I still don't know who Bryan is or if he released any other material. As a 45 this finds a place on my top 5 all time greatest ever. Hope you enjoy it as much as i do.

"Baby" by The Joneses (1969?)

Don't let the bland song title give you the wrong impression. This song rocks like crazy. Great beat-as good as a song can get. It reminds me a bit of the Merry Go Round. Class production too. Not sure of the year.

"Time to be a Woman" by Bobby Ray (1968)

I've already posted the original Bobby Lile version of this tune. This is markedly different The flip side of this 45 is another Lile cover "Story Book Love". Both sides were also produced by Bob Summers who produced a good number of Lile songs. What the connection is i'm not quite sure. Although on some Lile recordings from this time period there's a strong background vocal at times acting as a counterpoint to the main vocals. And this could be Ray as both voices do sound similar. I'm just ...

"I Can Tell" by Jenny's Daughters (1969)

Great pop girl group gospel song. Flipside is also ridiculously good. Pretty easy to find and quite cheap on ebay if anyone falls in love with it. Who are these girls though? Produced by Steve & Bill Jerome whose names are ubiquitous throughout 60's pop music. And the song was written by Duboff-Kornfeld, another pair of everpresent names. Hope you enjoy.

"Adora" by The Bright Hour (1968)

Buzz Cason and Bobby Russell produced this. I don't know if it's a studio group or a real group or Cason and Russell themselves but what an amazing song. Real treat for soft pop or easy listening fans.
