Renee Fleming - Armida, Finale (Live "Studio" Recording, 93)

I just love the music, and Renee's gorgeous dark rich tone and perfect vocalization just make it all even better. I pray that she can still pull this off 17 years later! What a fantastic voice. The only Armida that counts after Maria Callas.

Renee Fleming - Lo sognai terito e sangue (il Pirata, 2002)

Entrance scene for Imogene from Bellini's "Il Pirata". For me Renee is hands down the best Imogene and Lucrezia Borgia, she is fantastic in the roles written for Henriette Lalande. Not even Montserrat Caballe does such a good job, the only superior one is Callas in 59. This scene requires all the vocalisms of an assoluta, sans the lowest extension (low Bb) since it only goes to low C, but it requires a dense low register, heroic tone, agility in the soprano and in the mezzo tessituras, and a ...

Beverly Sills - Maria Stuarda's Prayer

Beautiful scene before Maria Stuarda's execution. Great testament to her amazing breathe control, listen to how she holds that high B for freakin' ever and then puts a crescendo on it! Absolutely amazing.

Maria Callas - Al Dolce Guidami (Score Animation)

One of the most beautiful and touching bel canto arias ever written, and an absolutely master class in singing by Maria Callas. Written for the fabulous Giuditta Pasta, from Donizetti's Anna Bolena. The last minute is pretty much a cadenza, so didn't put the scoring for that. I hope y'all enjoy it.

Beverly Sills - Anna Bolena, Finale (Score Animation)

One of the most powerfully dramatic scenes written by Donizetti, demanding a full heroic tone as well as great agility...requiring a diva capable agility in the upper register like the easiest high coloratura soprano, and also declamate on the low register like a dramatic mezzo/contralto! Anna Bolena is about to be executed, and her desperation can be felt with her heroic use of the passagio. She realizes it is the point of no return, and she melody dips down to a low B-flat which must be ...

Felia Litvinne - Seigneur, daignez (Gounod's Faust)

Beautiful performance by the soprano sfogato Felia Litvinne that showes her wonderful range. Her teacher, Pauline Viardot, told her "I myself was able to sing all roles written for the female voice, except for those written for a soprano leggero, you with your range and voice type have the same gift". A voice like that wouldn't be seen in the 20th century until the great Maria Callas came around!
