Eastern PEI got its first blast of winter on Sunday, Dec 6 and many people, especially youth, took advantage of it. These youth, including Jasmine and Jerica Spencer, Rebecca Curran, Hannah Winters and Pippa McCosham of Montague, were out on their sleds late Sunday afternoon.

A total of 56 runners took part in the annual 5-km Turkey Trot which took place just before the Souris Christmas Parade. Mark MacCosham of Charlottetown won with the fastest time of 19:22, while runner Naomi Campbell of Souris River won the draw for a turkey dinner with all the trimmings.
