I was asked to create this live show reel (ie a bit of each song) of David Rhodes playing solo at The Porter Cellar in Bath, 10th Dec 2009. For more info see www.myspace.com Shot on Canon 5D Mark II with a 50mm f/1.4 lens and a Zacuto Z-Finder (vital when using a non-IS lens, unless you have a tripod and clear space to stand it up). Sound was recorded on a Zoom H4n using both the condenser mics and a Rode NTG-2 shotgun mic on a table in the centre of the room. Edited in Premiere Pro CS4 on a PC....

Still practicing music videos, this time with Catmandu playing live in the Porter Cellar bar in Bath a week ago. I'm afraid there's a bad edit near the beginning (wide shot to slightly different wide shot) because I ran out of footage that would fit - that's the drawback to shooting a live concert with just one camera. This Saturday was a washout but on Sunday I met Andy Liszewski (of the band Roadshow) busking by the new Southgate buildings in Bath. Young band "The Busketeers" busking in Bath on Saturday 7th Nov 2009. I originally edited the video to the live sound I recorded but the band asked if I could edit it to their studio recording instead. It was a bit of a challenge as the live version was 1 minute longer than the studio version! I learned a lot while editing this (in Premier Elements 7). I was practicing shooting video yesterday, mainly of buskers around Bath. As I was leaving I came across this girl in front of the Abbey. She said she's fairly new to the Hang drum but it still sounded lovely. I clearly need to work on my audio in situations like this - the ambient noise does convey what it was like to listen to her in that busy place but I'd like to get a bigger separation between the music and the pedestrians. (photos + video) Bath-based band Catmandu playing live at the Chapel Arts Centre in Bath on 3rd Oct. 2009. I was actually there to take photos for the band but I thought I'd capture a bit of video as well, as I was using my Canon 5D Mark II.
