Speaking at the end of the board's regular monthly meeting, James Green told the board it should not have approved the Kay Williams' transfer on Nov. 17, 2009 because two school board members, Eva Bilderback and Nolen Howard, were absent. And he said board members should have gotten Williams' side of things.

Mary Person vs. Maynard Jackson Football Highlights 2009
The Mary Persons Bulldogs did what they had to do Friday night, stomping the Jaguars of Maynard Jackson, 37-0. But the Dogs will not be playing in the playoffs this year. Thats because Woodward beat Woodland Friday night. The win put Woodward in second place with a region record of 6-2. Woodland, also 6-2, ends up in third place. Spalding and MP both end the season with a 5-3 region record, but since Spalding beat MP, the Jaguars end up in fourth place and MP is fifth. Jackson, a perfect 8-0 ...

Forsyth: City council candidates debate
Three Forsyth city council candidates pledged to work to grow the city and improve services on Thursday at the only debate before the Nov. 3 election. Jo Anna Banks, Mike Dodd and Eric Wilson entertained questions as about 45 attendees looked on in the board of education auditorium. The forum was sponsored by the Forsyth-Monroe County Chamber of Commerce and the Monroe County Reporter.

2009 Highlights from Mary Person vs Jackson
A large and frenzied home crowd was quickly quieted Friday night as Jackson scored two touchdowns in the opening minutes and never let Mary Persons back into the game en route to a 21-6 win. The Bulldogs fell to 4-1 on the year, 3-1 in the region as they head to Woodland for a tough conference game on the road Friday.

MP vs. Rutland Football Highlights
Mary Persons got its first region win Friday night against Rutland, 23-6, but it was not a pretty win. "We made way too many mistakes in the first half," said Coach Rodney Walker. "We're young. That showed in the first half. But I think our coaches did a good job of adjusting at the half and figuring out what we could do."
