Kitchen Girl in AEAE tuning

One of the Mando Cafe tunes of the week. I thought I'd give it a whirl in AEAE tuning since I already had a mandolin tuned that way. Warning: crosstuning can be addictive. It sure is fun and you can make a lot of noise.

Here's a couple versions of the Temperance Reel on the Old Wave octave mandolin. The second version is way over the top, but it's fun to play.

Here's another good tune I learned from the playing of Norman Blake. Just a lot of fun on the Old Wave octave.

I learned this one off of Norman Blake's Old Time Mandolin DVD. It works great on the Old Wave octave mandolin. There's a couple flubs and a case of flying fingers, but hey, I'm rusty on the octave.

I'm really rusty on the octave, but this is such a cool tune played an octave lower, I had to give it a try.

Here's Paddy on the Turnpike in the Monroe style. There's a slow version for learning, a medium version and a fast version. The fast version still isn't anywhere near as fast as Monroe played this on the Smithsonian CD live with Doc Watson.

celticdude on the mando cafe posted this one in the tune a week group. It's kicked my butt for months but here it is anyway.

One of the Mando Cafe tunes of the week. I've always like this tune, and this is how I remember Butch Baldassari teaching it. My laptop fan kicks into high gear during the tune, but what can you do? youtube's going to screw up the sound anyway. Played on my 99 Gilchrist Model 5.

Here's the Cherokee Shuffle with some shuffle to it.
