Two easy solar light projects for $40

Using a $40 solar flood light set, I added lights to the shed. Th esolar panel contains 3 rechargable AA batteries that last about 3 years. I used a second panel to replace the night lights in my house. The high intensity led's I bought from Radio shack were too brights. I had to dim them to get a soft moonlight quality.

Magnetic Levitation - falling in slow motion

Using an aluminum channel bought from a local hardware store, a powerful neo magnet (from a craft shop) dropped down it, falls in slow motion. This is because the falling magnet induces an electric current in the magnet which produces a magnetic field that slows down the magnet. Why doesn't it stop? If the magnet stops moving, the electric current would disappear.

Home made solar water bag pool heater - updated

Home made 10' x 3' solar water bag system for heating pools. It's a stackable low cost inflatable solar panel system for heating pools without the need for a perminant structure, permits or home owner association approvals. It steals some of the water from a pool jet, heats in the sun and puts back into the pool. You can make one bag in an evening out of a commonly available heavy black plastic sheet and some common PVC parts that connect to garden hoses and low cost garden hose valves....
