N&W IMC Line RIP 2000

In 2000, we followed the N&W IMC line for the final time to find the tracks finally removed. This line was operated by Indiana Hi-Rail, and was sold to CERA who claimed it was a poor traffic producer. I do not believe CERA ever ran over it. I had videotaped this line in 1998 and 1999 when the tracks were still intact but overgrown and rusty. Now the grim reaper has finally arrived. 0:00-0:14 is a grade crossing south of Peru. Alexandria and Marion, IN 2000

Our first location is Alexandria, where NS' ex-NKP secondary between Portland and Frankfort crosses their ex-Big Four line from Goshen to Anderson. Note the new cheap signals and connecting track. Our second location is Goodman Yard, west of Marion, Indiana. The yard was formerly the PRR Columbus mainline from Logansport and end about a mile west of here at Sweetser. A northbound CSX freight hits the diamond of an industrial Big Four branch in Delaware, Ohio.

NS at Gregory, OH 2000

A northbound NS hopper train breezes through Gregory, Ohio, north of Columbus. Power is a GP60, GP40, and an SP GP60. The line paralleling it is an NYC (Big Four) line that heads norheast to Galion, where it merges up with the "Bee Line." The two lines parallel each other from this location south to Columbus.
