On Oct 26, members of Rising Tide DC showed up in front of PEPCO(dc's electrical utility) for a staged fight between coal and wind energy. This street theater was to demand that PEPCO cease and desist buying electricity from generators burning coal from mountaintop-removal coal mines.

On June 5, riders gathered in the rain for dc's monthly Critical Mass bike ride. Within ten minutes of the start, an SUV driver rammed a cyclist. Cops let him go and even stated they could arrest the rider who was hit! Finally the cops decided to take no action at all-and the ride resumed, rain and all. On May 14, Mayor Fenty appeared at the "Hinckley Hilton" to receive a lifetime achievement award from the DC Building Industry Association, a developer group. He had to run a gauntlet set up by Empower DC to get into the hotel to receive his award.
