Here Fred and I get a tour and a dissertation of the history of "lagoon town" by a native! He was explaining to us in Italian that in the old days, this town made its money by making salt and transporting it. The region the gentleman was explaining a region, ISTRIA (not Austria) a part of Croatia, where they would ship out salt. Hi Kids! Kathleen & Fred ordering our scoop of gelato today, Friday, May 1st, 2009. Today is the equivalent to the American Labor Day. Everyone had today off. So people were playing in the piazza and we were just being lazy. Stay tuned--next weekend,we may go somewhere exciting! Ciao!
And primarily those Alps! Vlog taken while we were riding the funivia up to the TOP of the ski jump tower. Which serves as an Observation tower and restaurant (where we ate lunch) so you can really enjoy the view of the Alps. Vlogged on April 16, 2009.
If you have ever wondered why Austrians are such good skiers and always win in the Winter Olympics, look no further than Innsbruck, Austria! It is a quaint skiing village that is nestled between the Alps. Also have been the location for a couple of Olympics. They recently built this ski jump to further enhance their chances for Olympic gold! This was the final stop on our vacation--vlog taken on April 16, 2009--on our way "home" to Italy.
Part of the Festa della Liberazione Day festivities included the band, "G.Savoi" playing on the morning of Saturday, April 25,2009. They started playing in the Piazza, then the mayor spoke. Band led a procession throughout our small town as townsmen left memorial wreaths on important artwork throughout town. Finally, we ended up on the outskirts of town in the cemetery. Where our town priest, Don Francesco, said a prayer and blessed the tombs of the fallen during World War II. Wonderful day ...
