Cephalic Carnage - Lucid Interval ALBUM REVIEW

Cephalic Carnage - Lucid Interval ALBUM REVIEW

Back with another awesome requested album review. Today we have one of my favs, Cephalic Carnage - Lucid Interval released on Relapse Records. Its hard to pin point this bands genre because they are all over the board with grind, math metal, doom, sludge, death metal and more. Very experimental and in this record they weren't afraid to push the boundaries. Tracks range from 30 seconds to 7 mins (excluding the 20 min track that has like 10 mins of silence). Like I said, they are all over the ...

Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer ALBUM REVIEW

Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer ALBUM REVIEW

Back to the list of requested album reviews, today we have Pig Destroyer - Terrifyer on Relapse Records. Very raw and intense grind I must say. Terrifyer is that turning point for Pig Destroyer where their sound gets alot cleaner sounding making it a tad more accessible for new listeners. The guitars are very good with a good mix of styles from thrashy, to past picking, to staight up old school Napalm Death like riff. The drummer is a machine with his skills. Very powerful blast! Vocalist is ...

Fear Factory - Powershifter TRACK REVIEW

**NOTE: I suck and kept calling it powershift, forgetting the ER Here we go with another requested track review for Powershifter by Fear Factory. This one comes from the album Mechanize which is due to be released in February 2010. If you've ever listened to Fear Factory then you will jump into this one with ease. Nothing to out of the ordinary in the world of Fear Factory. One thing is for sure, Dino is back! Heavy yet simple, but those guitars have still that traditional Dino flavor. The ...

Forgotten Tomb - Scars TRACK REVIEW

Forgotten Tomb - Scars TRACK REVIEW

Another fun requested Track Review for you fine viewers. Today we have Scars by Forgotten Tomb from the album Springtime Depression. Forgotten Tomb is a depressive black doom metal band with very strong depressive, suicidal themes. The riffs remind me of those "black metal ballad" songs with some excellent layers of fast picking and leads. Most of the meat of the guitars are these style riffs. The drums are thunderous and huge sounding. Vocals are very angry and painful sounding with tons of ...

All Shall Perish - Black Gold Reign TRACK REVIEW

All Shall Perish - Black Gold Reign TRACK REVIEW

Here we go again with ANOTHER requested track for All Shall Perish's Black Gold Reign. WHY MUST YOU GUYS TORTURE ME! So yes All Shall Perish is another one of those fun loving deathcore bands that I can't see to get into. I did find some good in this track believe it or not! Phenomenal guitar playing and drumming. The guitars go way overboard with the sweeping and solos but then dummy it down to those dreadful breakdowns that I am not to fond of. The slow quiet parts where a nice change and ...

Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine TRACK REVIEW

Soilwork - The Chainheart Machine TRACK REVIEW

Today's track review was a requested one for The Chainheart Machine by Soilwork on the album The Chainheart Machine. Soilwork was always one of those bands for me that was just "there". I never really gave them much a listen. I remember a friend showing me some stuff early on that sounded exactly like At the Gates. This track comes from their 2nd record released in 1999. And yes, it sounds like At the Gates.... A LOT! Side by side, they could be twins! Great guitar playing all around. I did ...

Devin Townsend Project - Addicted ALBUM REVIEW

Devin Townsend Project - Addicted ALBUM REVIEW

Devin Townsend Project - Addicted was released November 17th 2009 on HevyDevy Records. This is the 2nd of a 4 album project Mr.Townsend is doing. This is Devin creating amazing music NOT on drugs! Addicted sounds like a heavier Devin Townsend Band with moments being very melodic and catchy. Awesome guitar sound as always, great female vocals with classic Devin style vocals. Over all an excellent record, except for the track that sounds like a country duet. I really dug this one. 8.7/10 ...
