Peachtree Road Race 2009

I started in the last group of the race (the final 10000 of the 55000 runners) and ran with some interesting people. This was my second year doing the race with my sister and I really tried to take in as much of the experience as possible. The Peachtree is like a party with running in it and is lots of fun. 250' Ft. Benning Jump Tower

The parachute jump tower, a familiar Fort Benning landmark, was built after soldiers trained in New Jersey on a similar tower built by the company that built parachute towers for the 1939 World's Fair in New York. www.benning.army.mil Here a dummy is being dropped during a demonstration. Usually the chute is already open at the beginning of the decent.

National Infantry Museum - The Last 100 Yards

The Last 100 Yards is the museums signature exhibit. Life-like scenes from eight wars in Infantry history will dot a 100-yard-long gently inclining ramp, signifying the Infantrys role in taking the last 100 yards of any battle. The scenes feature cast figures of real Infantry soldiers, as well as a World War II glider, Huey helicopter and Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
