Ex-Rio Grande GP40-2 #1447 leads the Broadway Local freight train into the Mack Dow Yard with 5 empty rock hoppers and 1 empty grain hopper. Eric Tindall has been working hard to detail the Dow Yard with dirty ballast, soot, and even weeds and cat-tails growing between the rails and ties. Video was taken on 12/26/09 at 10:47am.

The BNSF Warm Springs local freight rolls under the trestle at Caliente with 3 loads, 2 of which are hazardous. Ex-Santa Fe GP38-2 #2246 and ex-Burlington Northern B30-7 #5491 lead this short train through Caliente and eventually to the freight yard at Napa. Video was taken on 12/26/09 at 1:15pm.

A Southern Pacific commuter train slows down as it approaches the north limits of CP Stockton. The train will eventually arrive at Union Station and the engine will be cut and turned around to the north-end of the train. Video was taken on 12/26/09 at 10:28am.

Southern Pacific GP9E #3194 leads this northbound commuter past the freight depot at Fairfield. This service was replaced by Caltrain in 1986 and it still operates on the former SP right of way to this date. The bi-level Pullman cars are made by Walthers and the GP9E was custom built and detailed by Rickey Hall. Video was taken on 12/26/09 at 10:25am.

I was tipped off by my friend Adrian Eberhard that there were some "visitors" to South San Francisco. When I arrived I found an SD9043AC #8119, SD70M #5073, and C44-9W #9704 along with GP38-2s #310, 792, 2561, and GP40-2s #1447 and #1342. It is several years after the SP/UP merger and this all Southern Pacific consist is actually a Union Pacific Roseville to San Jose train entering CP Stockton. SD70M #9813, SD40M-2 #8643, and SD70M #9809 have all been spared renumbering or repainting, for now. As of 2009, unpatched ex-SP units on the Union Pacific can be seen but becoming increasingly rare. This type of consist was still common well past the merger of the SP into the Union Pacific in 1996.
