The 1876 Newport Atlas shows the houses of James Sheekey and Margaret Kane on West Street and East Street. Many of the Irish who lived on these streets came during the potato famine and worked for in the mansions of Bellevue Avenue area. The original Sheekey and Kane houses no longer exist. Some of the houses on these 2 streets date back to that era. This video is a draft of the architecture of mid 19th century working class families in Newport.

Flip video snapshots of our August 2009 visit to Acadia National Park in Maine. Acadia, our nation's first national park in the east, is distinguished by pink granite rocks, wooded paths along its rocky shoreline, and Cadillac Mountain. We stayed on the coast at the Seawall Motel and ate very well (lobsters and crab rolls) at Anglers Restaurant in Searsport.
