LA Sheriff Threatens To Submit Photographer to FBI's Hit List

LA Sheriff Threatens To Submit Photographer to FBI's Hit List

If you happened to see Rick Sanchez's broadcast of this encounter, you should know that he left out the some very important facts a la Fox News style in order to slant the story to his opinion and publicly smear me. His producer, Janelle, was also very upset that I decided to not do the show. You should have heard her screaming at me on the phone this morning, demanding to know my attorney's name. Finally, let's not forget that this is the same Rick Sanchez that struck a man with his vehicle ...

LAPD Ignores Media Relations Handbook Policies and Attempts to Stop Picture Taking

Going against the policies laid out in lapd's Media Relations Handbook, which absolutely allows photography from public space beyond the yellow tape, this officer decided to take it upon himself to prevent me from what I am legally entitled to do. More important, the victim's wife wanted me to photograph the incident, so the moral police can go home and read up on actual laws to enforce rather than trying to prevent me from doing my work.

House of Blues Guard Attacks Girl For Taking Pictures

House of Blues Guard Attacks Girl For Taking Pictures

This vicious attack took place because the girl supposedly took a picture of the House of Blues security guard, which by the way, is completely when you're in public. More important, security guards are not police officers, therefore, they do not have police powers or the legal right to detain someone, especially for taking a photograph while in public. A security guard's sole responsibility is to observe and report, and that is it. Hopefully, these girls will start a nice lawsuit against ...

Youtube Removes Video of Maguire Properties Guard Harassing Photographer

Youtube Removes Video of Maguire Properties Guard Harassing Photographer

This video was originally 10 minutes long and showed a Maguire Properties' security guard telling photographers that they could not photograph The Gas Company Tower without the owner's permission. However, that is not true since public photography is a constitutional right, protected by the 1st Amendment and any person, thing or structure within view from a public space is free to photograph. The full video was ultimately removed by Youtube due to a "privacy" complaint violation. To read ...

Andrews international Security Guard Assaults Photographer

Andrews international Security Guard Assaults Photographer

On June 27, 2009 while photographing the Michael Jackson Memorial on the Hollywood Boulevard, my camera was grabbed and pushed into my face by Andrews International security guard Vasquez #782 for photographing an encounter involving Vasquez #782, Andrews International personnel, and a man who was heckling reporters covering the scene. All of this took place on the public portion of the Boulevard.

LAPD Encouter June 19, 2009

LAPD Encouter June 19, 2009

Once again I did nothing wrong while working under the laws of the US Constitution and rules of lapd's Media Relations Handbook, covering a crime scene. However, per usual, LAPD prevents me from doing my job even though the area I was standing in was still open to the general public and not marked off with police tape. As seen in the video, the LAPD officer who repeatedly grabbed me (which is assault; if I did that to an officer I would be arrested), didn't even know where the perimeter was ...

Free State vs. Police State

While photographing the Port of Long Beach refineries a group of photographers were confronted by a security guard and were told it was illegal to photograph oil refineries. Shortly after the encounter with the security guard(which can be seen at "I Don't Care About the Law") 4 Harbor Patrol units (which, according to them, aren't actual police) engaged us saying they were responding to a physical and verbal confrontation. During the predominantly pleasant encounter the officer attempted to ...

Security Guard Doesn't Care About the Law

While photographing the Port of Long Beach refineries a group of photographers were confronted by a security guard who was more concerned about her job duties rather than the actual law, which permits us to photograph the refineries from public space. Shortly after this encounter, 4 Harbor Patrol units (which, according to them, aren't actual police) engaged us saying that they received a call from this guard who stated to them that a physical altercation had occurred -- which is a complete lie....

LAPD Targets Me For Holding Camera on Public Sidewalk

LAPD Targets Me For Holding Camera on Public Sidewalk

On Friday May 28, 2009 LAPD conducted an undercover sting where an arrest was made on N Alexandria Ave in Hollywood 90027. While I was on scene a perimeter WAS NEVER ESTABLISHED and all citizens moved freely throughout the area where LAPD was gathered. I was among these people, however an LAPD singled me out simply because I was holding a camera. This cop's action was an attempt to get me to move by falsely claiming there was a perimeter that was being established. However, this LAPD officer ...

LAPD Threatens Me With Arrest For Photographing Crime Scene

LAPD Threatens Me With Arrest For Photographing Crime Scene

While legally photographing a crime scene where a man had been killed, LAPD officers berated, bullied, and threatened me with an unlawful arrest for supposedly obstructing their investigation. At no point did I encroach on the crime scene, or cross police tape to photograph the incident. I was well within my legal rights granted to me by the US Constitution, and lapd's Media Relations Handbook.
