This is how to play a scale slowly then blast it into oblivion with speed from hell....come up the scale slowly then when you hit the turn-around point..speed it up....but watch where you stop cause it has to be on a good note...lol......sometimes i miss...oops......Cheers. Don the Alien.

This is the D scale that Vai uses to build-up at the near-end of FLOG....it has some variances but it is rather unique in it's approach...I don't think we ever do the same scale twice live...i know i don't...but take this variation and work on it cause it sound killer and the positioning is cool AND makes your fingers look cool..!!! And that's what gets the chicks!!!!...lol.....

This is a little take on bending into notes during a riff with the bar...i usually bend into the 3rd finger movement and give it that flat to sharp up-tone that sounds rather good...get the feel of it and you will be doing it all night!!!!! cheers.
