This is Blind Boy Fuller on guitar/voc, Sonny Terry on harp and Oh Red laying down some barely audible washboard. This was recorded in 1940 and appears on the lp "Carolina Blues" on Flyright records. Always brings a smile to my face this tune. Hope it does you.

Here's an early recording of an old cautionary tale named here as Rising Sun Blues. The theme was later elaborated on and made famous by The Animals "House Of The Rising Sun". You'd find the early songs sung by men and women with the men seemingly talking of a gambler and the women warning of that house of ruin. My local record shop owner has come up trumps for me again this week! He handed me this little gem of an lp and charged me the un-princely sum of £5. Here's to him. The lp features Rev. Cora Fluker - Move Daniel Recorded in 1980 and taken from the Living Country Blues USA vol 7 lp. Known for singing spirituals and accompanying herself on guitar, every performance of hers I've heard is a guttsy one.

A great feel to this song by the great Big Bill Broonzy. This was another of my charity shop finds and although it's a bit battered it's a good'n. Nearly every other version I've heard of this features washboard or some other accompaniment. No bad thing but here for your listening pleasure is just Big Bill and his geetar! Recorded 1956 and taken from a Storyville comp' lp.
