Death Star Briefing test

This is the start of a project to recreate the Death Star briefing to check out how long it would take with modern kit. The original took weeks to set up and 2 minutes per frame of animation to render. This part so far has taken 30 minutes to make the model, set up the animation and 1.9 seconds per frame to render, even with photoreal motion blur and 5 layer filtering. 30 years of progress, eh?

USS Detroyat warp test 2

Second attempt at a warp test with the Detroyat model. It now has more decals and more lights in the bussard caps, but the intensity needs adjusting. Stars are larger and should now show up when the video is compressed and uploaded.

detroyat flypast

Test video of the new USS Detroyat model WIP. Stars are too small to be seen clearly, and moving too fast. Need less transparency in the bussards and more lights in there too. Surfaces still to be completed. Music copyright Paramount, 1966 I should imagine.

USS Bradbury warp exit and ambush

Test animation of the USS Bradbury mesh dropping out of warp and attacking a baddie. A models are mine, no sound but might add later. The bussard texture movement went completely bonkers, will need to work out what went wrong.

USS Bradbury at high warp

The USS Bradbury at high warp, or going through a wormhole or some such thing. I just wanted to test out my redone Bradbury model, and give my mate a video he might be able to use for his Bradbury based RPG. I'm still trying to figure out the best settings and codecs for youtube, it's not easy. Music is from Bill Browns excellent royalty-free music site.

Socom Gear Barret M82 airsoft sniper rifle review

This is a review of the new Socom Gear fully licensed version of the awesome Barrett M82A1 anti materiel sniper rifle. This is the only authorised version for airsoft and is very accurate in looks, and shoots something lovely. It will take all the upgrades and add-ons you can afford, but you will have to work out quite a bit if you plan to do more than simply look at it. You'll have arms like an Orang Utan after using this for any length of time. Comes with 6 little Socom gear stickers too ...

LWA logo test animation

Test logo animation made for my local Airsoft supplier. They have a static picture logo at the start of their on-line videos, so I thought I'd tart it up. I did it to get back into the 3D modelling and animation scene, I've got a hankering to start up again. Remember kids, skills not used are soon lost!

Double Eagle Benelli M3 Super-90 shotgun

A quick review of my old shotgun backup for airsoft. These retail today for £50 and are fine for occasional use and as a backup for when your AEG dies a death. Pistol/shotgun games at the end of the day are also a laugh, and that's what this gun is all about. They look good and feel great when you cock them, but dont expect too many fireworks when you actually pull the trigger. Anything cheaper will fall to bits during it's first serious game and shoot like a baby spitting up....
