In an amazing semi final match against Portland Timbers at PGE Park in Portland, the game finished 3-3 on the day, sending Vancouver through to the final 5-4 on aggregate. In an amazing game of football, Vancouver and Portland fought out a 3-3 draw, sending the Caps through 5-4 on aggregate. Cue ecstatic scenes in the stands of PGE Park amongst the Whitecaps faithful. Portland Timbers 1-0 victory over Vancouver Whitecaps at PGE Park on August 6th 2009 clinched their first ever Cascadia Cup. As the Vancouver Southsiders handed over ownership of the Cup, the Timbers Army celebrated in style and enjoyed every minute of it all.
