Tucson celebrated its 20th All Soul's Procession on Nov.9, 2009, Sunday. We met at 4th Avenue and University Blvd. at 4 pm, registered floats and the rest of us just photographed each other. It is a fairly spontaneous, individually motivated gathering. We honor our dead and burn our sorrows in a huge cauldron at the end of the long walk down 4th and into the downtown area. Our community altar at El Centro Cultural de las Americas at 40 W. Broadway in Tucson, Arizona, hosted a celebration and observance of El Dia de los Muertos along with the Grupo Semilla from the U of A. We wandered around Ajijic and visited a few places, like the Nueva Posada and I took photos the entire time. It was such a beautiful and relaxing location, no wonder all the artists, writers, etc. from North America are moving or retiring here. There is so much to see, so much beauty around you. Go visit.

We drove around Guadalajara, picking up people at the airport and going downtown to see an exhibition of stone cutters for the Fiestas de Octubre and finally drove out to Lake Chapala and Ajijic just 30 to 40 minutes outside Guadalajara. Wonderful. You need to go there, you will fall in love as I have.

We visited Tlaquepaque on the outskirts of Guadalajara, a favorite tourist destination. The artesanias are displayed within the shops and buildings in such a way as to dazzle the imagination. Marimba bands play, guitarists sing, little birds tell your fortune and down the street aways, mariachis will sing your dear departed dad's favorite songs, like El Ninho Perdido ( I have no enye, so I write it in Portuguese).
