Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10, Syfa Ending

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10, Syfa Ending

And finally, we have our magically-inclined ally, originally imprisoned in stone (by a cyclops?)...but also apparently aware of the events going on nearby. Let's...avoid thinking about the lingering details about all that. Oh, and if it seems odd that there's not a single Cross subweapon on this stage...Syfa is exactly the reason why Trevor can't have nice things, because it would be entirely too destructive if you could have easy access to that Lightning spell for the final battle. It's not ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10, Alucard Ending

Oh boy, a tense reunion and confrontation between father and son. I realize it's 1990 and all, but you'd think that the two might want to exchange a few words before having at each other...but I suppose they're saving it all for later games where the Tepes family tends to get somewhat long-winded in expressing themselves. Ah, enjoy the early days and relative silence. Interestingly, even though you wouldn't know it from this game, in spite of Alucard's animosity towards his father for his ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10, Grant Ending

And now we drop in with the fastest man in Wallachia...maybe. At least he's the fastest we've seen, and nobody else but these heroes seem to be interested in fighting Dracula, so I guess it's not completely unfair to give it to the man. Grant's got some serious advantages in his mobility and climbing talents as far as the second room is concerned, although it does tend to present more than a couple of potential pitfalls anyway...but that's pretty much always been the case for Grant and his ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10, Trevor Ending

So I know I didn't show anything of his exploits in reaching this far, but showing gameplay of Trevor by himself seems even more redundant than showing how some of the later stages would be cleared as either Alucard or Grant...or as all three characters in the case of the two stages preceding this one. The fact still remains that Trevor could choose to be a loner and turn down any and all attempts at friendship, discarding potential allies at every turn. What a heartless bastard, heroic ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 10

Well, all roads lead to Wallachia...or rather they all lead straight to where Dracula happens to lie in wait, eager to tear down those who would seek to slay him and end his plans to create a "bad world filled with evil"...how on earth can the good people of Europe hope to prevail? This stage, simply put...is extremely short. Like, shorter than the original Castlevania's final stage, not that Stage 6 of that game really posed much of an obstacle, considering how you only had to clear the ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 9, Alucard (2/2)

Ah yes, you'll notice that I chopped out all the preceding events that bring our heroes up to the final block of the stage, hopefully you won't feel too left out or neglected if I try to keep things more focused on the boss rather than the stage itself, which I think got a rather fair representation last time. The Doppelganger, which itself will become something of a lesser recurring boss for the series, is exactly what it sounds like...an evil duplication of your player character. It's just ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 9, Alucard (1/2)

Here we are...the penultimate stage, and at more than likely the last truly challenging and/or frustrating one of the bunch. Dracula prefers to hog most of the attention for himself anyway, so he doesn't really want a huge stage getting in the way of being able to tear his would-be dispatchers a new one personally. I'd like to point out that Trevor starts this stage with a Double Shot and Holy Water...so no real points for guessing what happened to Death along the way, all right? So why is ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 8, Syfa

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 8, Syfa

This is a strange one all right for several reasons. It's the eighth stage, and we're JUST now making it to the front doors of Castlevania...and as such, it's decorated in such a manner as to be highly reminiscent of the first stage of the first game. That said, as the eighth stage of this game, it's an extremely short level, maybe even one to rival the shortness of the initial stage of the first game...but at least as it was Stage 1 in that game, it had an excuse. At the very least, for ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 7, Syfa

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 7, Syfa

Well, well...it's been a long and strange trip through forests and on boats and towers and bridges...or would it be more appropriate to call that last leg an "aqueduct" of some kind? Why Dracula has one, I honestly can't for the life of me figure, but it gives the Mermen a nice place to live, I guess. Oh, and take note that the music I said would be reappearing later on does in fact make its return...and unlike the song that I've decided belongs rightfully to Dracula's stage, I'm not sure if ...

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse -- Stage 7, Alucard (2/2)

Anyway, there's not much more left to the stage, it's just...well, long, even if I don't spend a lot of time dying and retracing my steps and there aren't any branching paths like the usual cause for a single stage to need multiple videos to cover. This one is just THAT long...or maybe I'm just exaggerating, because I'm glad to be out of there due to some kind of resentment for some combined suffering I've endured at its hands...erm...blocks? At least this time I didn't encounter too much ...
