Elves from Santa's Place are a little hard to keep indoors. On our opening night, they went skipping down the street to check out the musical light display at Mill Race Park, and then went dancing around in front of some of the local eateries (and drinkeries).
Santa's Place is now open for business. About 15 people were waiting outside the door when we opened. Kids are singing karaoke, Firry's singing along, parents are grinning and taking pictures, elves are running around being busy, and Santa makes his first appearance.
Congressman Mark Schauer volunteered at the Haven of Rest homeless shelter this morning. In addition to dressing turkeys and mixing up the green bean casserole, he also served lunch to the women and children from Inasmuch house. A little girl named Olivia was celebrating her second birthday today, and he presented her with a cake and sang happy birthday to her.

A gift from the WK Kellogg Foundation, this year's musical light show at Mill Race Park features colored lights flashing and blinking in time to the music of four popular Christmas carols. In addition, you can also tune your car radio to 107.1 FM while you are watching it for a simulcast of the music.
