The Rosewood Center in Owings Mills opened in 1888 as the Asylum and Training School for the Feeble Minded, a residential center for mentally disabled and ill young people. Patients learned farming, carpentry, sewing, and other skills, but under-budgeting and overcrowding led to deplorable living conditions.
