Chris Poole's phd project aims to create an ultrasound image-guided radiotherapy system utilising robot-manipulated 4D ultrasound to dynamically track a moving tumour volume in real-time during therapy. The research has the potential to improve patient outcome by better targeting the tumour and reducing the radiation dose delivered to surrounding healthy tissues. Chris is a phd student in the School of Chemical Sciences at QUT.

Judy Fleiter's phd project explores the reasons why people speed. Car drivers in Queensland, Australia and Beijing, China, were interviewed and surveyed to explore perceptions about legal factors such as monetary fines and demerit point penalties; personal factors such as personality type and age; and social factors such as positive and negative feedback from others. Judy is a phd student in the Centre for Accident Research and Road Safety - Queensland, based at QUT.

Nicole White's phd project aims to develop statistical tools for exploring complex data collected in the study of Parkinson's disease. By doing so, the hope is to contribute to better understanding of patient responses and inform clinical decision making. The project is funded by an ARC Linkage grant between QUT and St. Andrew's War Memorial Hospital. Nicole is a phd student at qut's School of Mathematical Science.

Dr Becker used safeassign in her core business unit to help students identify referencing issues in their own work. safeassign is delivered via Blackboard and works by comparing the students' submission with internet resources, journal databases, and a global pool of student work.

Associate Professor Russell-Bennett introduced qutopia to create a real-world marketing experience for her students in AMB240. The students create a product (or rebrand an existing product), develop a marketing plan and sell the product at the qutopia market day. The enthusiasm of the students shines through at market day and their feedback on the experience is positive despite the extra workload involved.
