While London's "The Big Pink" show off a brand of sonic, hypnotic shoegaze on their debut album "A Brief History of Love," they were nice enough to play a stripped down version of their single Velvet in the ally behind dc's Black Cat. It shows a softer side of the band, as well as the fact that their songwriting holds up even without all the atmosphere. It's pretty cool. Musican Max Tundra agreed to be filmed for The New Gay's performance series, when in town for a show at DC9, at one of our more unique locations: Nellie's Sports Bar, a gay watering hole on U Street.
