Teatime With Geisha

Teatime With Geisha

In Kyoto, one can have tea with Geisha. One way is to pay a lot of money and get an invite from an establishment in order to have this privilege or go when the public Geisha dances are held. I took the second option and had tea prepared by a geisha in a room with about 50 other people. The public dances cost about $30-$40 plus $5 for the tea ceremony. The tea ceremonies are a montage from 3 events - the Miyako Odori, the biggest and most famous production held every April, the Kyo Odori also ...

Burger Hell - Eating 7 Patty Whopper From Burger King

Burger Hell - Eating 7 Patty Whopper From Burger King

A couple of weeks ago, Burger King released a special 7 beef patty whopper as a sales gimmick in relation to Windows 7 release. Windows 7 - 7 Patties, get it? Maybe the feeling was if the burger doesn't kill you, working with Windows 7 will. Anyway, I decided to give the burger a shot. It turned out to be more of a chore than I thought and I barely finished it with my sanity and blood pressure intact. Here is the result of my experiment. It was a whale of burger (but no real whale as far as ...

Ghosts Caught On Film at York's Mosted Haunted Inn

This footage actually dates back to 2006 when I visited the Golden Fleece the most haunted inn/pub in York in Northern England. I've held onto it fearing what impact it may have on the world but I can no longer keep it secret so here is proof positive of the existence of ghosts. Not for the faint of heart! samuraidave.wordpress.com

Morioka Hachimangu Festival

Morioka Hachimangu Festival

I was back up in Morioka again for yet another festival, this time for the 300 year old Hachimangu Matsuri. The Hachimangu Matsuri is a 3-day festival with floats, music, dances, and yabusame (mounted archery). The floats take 6 months to decorate and 200 people are attached to each one. The floats depicted characters from Japanese and Chinese history/legend and Kabuki characters.
