The night before this day, I got word that the Illinois Central E9(A)'s were sitting in Markham Yard (cn's yard in Homewood, IL.), coupled onto three IC passenger cars. ~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ Union Pacific's North Local heads south through Wilmington, IL., with six cars, bound for Bloomington. The power is wonderful! Today, we have UP GP40-2 1531, GMTX GP38AC 2163 and UP GP40-2 1501. I also really liked the friendly wave from the conductor. This train used to normally run during the night, however, it's lately been arriving into Joliet, northbound during the late morning to early afternoon. Captured at New Lenox, this was an unbelievably amazing scene. It was well worth the two and a half hour wait as well. These beauties are enroute to the National Railway Equipment (NRE) in Silvis, IL. They're soon to be rebuilt. Truly a once in a lifetime moment! ~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ It's cold. It's pouring rain. It's the heart of rush hour traffic. That doesn't stop me from heading out to document this rarity! BC Rail C40-8M 4607 leads the eastbound train A446 through Maywood, IL, a couple blocks from the Loyola University Medical Center. It's always nice to see a BCOL in the lead. 4607 is equipped with a great K5H. Filmed on October 3rd, 2009.

Scene 1: At the yard, GTW GP38-2 4927 performs some switching, meeting EJ&E SD38-2 656, which is also performing some switching. A classic meet! ~*~PLEASE COMMENT!~*~ Railfanning action on 10/05/2009! Scene 1: I start the day off by what I still call the EJ&E Yard. I heard scanner activity that the Line Train was nearing the Rock. Automatically assuming there would be an EJ&E on the point, I headed to my location. I was terribly mistaken. CN SD70I 5616 leads EJ&E SD38-2 664. Why can't it be turned around? 5616 is one of the sd70i's that were being worked on at Kirk Yard, in Gary, IN. It was picked up by M343 later in the Joliet Yard ...
