Rare Conrail OLS Unit on the Low Grade! - May 29, 2009
Norfolk Southern train 39G is seen pulling out of Reading Yard, headed for Allentown past the Farmers Market. The road power is a pair of gevos which looked and sounded good close up, but the third unit is the REAL prize- it's the Conrail OLS GP38-2! It looks amazing close-up in this view. Quarry Switching on the Turkey Path- May 21, 2009
Norfolk Southern's Reading Industrial Track, also known as the Turkey Path, is the location of several large on-line stone quarries. A pair of trains serving these industries is seen on the afternoon of May 21. First is a shot of the "side street" signal at the River Road crossing, which is still in operation. A Long, Slow 39G at Neversink- May 21, 2009
During a sunny May afternoon, Norfolk Southern train 39G heads west through Neversink. The two dash 9s up front are working hard to keep the train moving. Not the most exciting shot, but it provides a good look at what the train is carrying, including an ex-NW gondola in the front, HK stone hoppers, and a variety of boxcars, including a CNW car.
