The Appalachian State football team had just defeated the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga 35-20 in an exciting game. I was wishing our Tennessee friends had stayed for this. They would have enjoyed the rousing rendition of "The Tennessee Waltz."

Morgan Weathington, a junior at Peace College, painted a rain barrel for a competition at the 2009 NC State Fair. After the barrels are judged, they'll be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to a water conservation program in Raleigh. When you go to the Fair, look for Morgan's barrel!
