Balto: I Fought the Law

Balto: I Fought the Law

This is another video upon which I have been gestating for about two years. In case you are wondering, when I started producing these videos almost two years ago I had a sequence laid out for the order whereby I would produce my amvs. Changes to the copyright allowance threw a monkey wrench into that sequence. This video—my first foray into punk rock—was bumped ahead, and under the circumstances it felt like the right time to come along. I have artificially enhanced the speed of a number of ...

Lions, Wolves, Bears, Foxes et al. at the Greater Vancouver Zoo

Lions, Wolves, Bears, Foxes et al. at the Greater Vancouver Zoo

When I was small I visited a nearby place called the Greater Vancouver Game Farm and it was very different from the zoo we see today. In those days you could drive around the entire 120 acres, stopping wherever and whenever you liked to admire the various animals. The Game Farm also had some animals that it does not have now, and did not have many of the animals which are now residents. I took this trip after a long time of being away. The fact is I do not go to Zoos very often; hardly ever ...

The Wall: A Re-cut Trailer

The Wall: A Re-cut Trailer

November 30, 1979 was a red letter day in the history of music. It was on this occasion that the world was introduced to The Wall: Roger Waters' metaphor for the self-destructive isolation of living the rock and roll dream. Pink Floyd's most intensely personal record, the two-disc concept album also marked an apogee in a "bigger is better" decade of excesses. Though wrapped in production grandiosity, The Wall ironically touched an audience large enough to become the best-selling double album ...

One Day at the Pacific National Exhibition: Part 2

One Day at the Pacific National Exhibition: Part 2

Here is the second and final of two parts from my day at "The Fair at the PNE". As Part 1 consisted mainly of daytime activities, in this segment you will find evening and nighttime festivities, including: Playland Summer Night Concerts featuring April Wine KABOOM! I apologize for the audio quality; its the best I can do with the available equipment. I must thank my mother, my brother, and my mothers sister for their understanding in this endeavor. I spent most of the day by myself or ...

One Day at the Pacific National Exhibition: Part 1

One Day at the Pacific National Exhibition: Part 1

Those of us born here in the Lower Mainland of British Columbia know the Best Part of Summer comes during the two weeks prior to Labor Day. That is when everyone finds their way to the park at the end of Hastings Street in Vancouver, as they have done for the past ninety-nine years. Here, agriculture, livestock, technology, commerce, industry, culture, motor sports, dancers, acrobats, lumberjacks, and entertainers—powered by copious amounts of Those Little Donuts—create the seventeen-day ...

Quality Change Test: Standard to High Definition

Quality Change Test: Standard to High Definition

Having come into access of the 5D-Mark II—a Digital SLR with High Definition Video option—I thought it best to compare the standard picture quality of my normal camera with this new piece of hardware. This will not be the last time that a video is broadcast on my channel in Standard 480p. The camera is not my own and I still have a backlog of footage, but do take this as a sign of hopeful things to come.

The Strangest, Oddest, Craziest, Zaniest Amateur Remix Ever!

The Strangest, Oddest, Craziest, Zaniest Amateur Remix Ever!

Allow me to explain. During the 1970s, the great nation of Japan turned out dozens of fantastic, kitschy, Kaiju-based programs. For the uninitiated, Kaiju refers to a great genre of Japanese cinema which for over five decades has repeatedly unleashed a slew of zany monsters to decimate the islands cities and terrorize their puny residents. The monsters of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers—familiar to those of my generation—are but an echo of a golden pre-ILM era when Godzilla, Ultraman ...

The Moon Landing: An Original Recording

The Moon Landing: An Original Recording

On the night of July 20, 1969, something happened that had never been witnessed in all of history: Two humans appeared on the Luna surface, clad in airtight spacesuits, bouncing about the basalt rich Sea of Tranquility in 1/6 gravity for 156 minutes while 400000 kilometers away on Planet Earth 700 million people watched the grainy black and white transmitted images. Among those millions rapped to their televisions and radios was Pete Dawson, a sawmill foreman from Saskatchewan. That evening ...

The Petal Storm-2009

The Petal Storm-2009

Every spring, the trees blossom into fantastic clouds of pink, which lazily make their way to earth in a storm of petals. This year, I documented that storm as it descended upon the neighborhood in the early days of May. Owing to the long and deep winter, the storm was delayed by a week or two, but nevertheless it arrived plentiful as always.

The Continuing Story of Gilmore Bailey Lagomorph

The Continuing Story of Gilmore Bailey Lagomorph

One year ago I introduced youtube to Gilmore Bailey Lagomorph, our resident cute and chubby bunny. This year, Gilmore celebrated birthday number four-her third with us. You will be pleased to know that despite having entered middle age the Sweet Bun remains in good health and lively as ever. It seemed appropriate enough that with Easters approach we should once more check on Miss Bun. This time my camera began to watch the A-1 Bun last December, and in the four months that followed I found ...
