This clip shows two galaxies colliding, each galaxy contains 3 Million stars. The software uses the gravity equation F=G*M1*M2/R^2 and assumes that orbiting stars have negligible mass compared to the super massive black hole at the center. The app is written in CUDA and runs on the GPU at about 20 frames a second on my nvidia 88000GTS. That equates to about 120 million particles per second. Soft Shadows on the CPU

This clip shows perceptually correct soft shadows running on the cpu. Texturing and post processing effects are performed on the gpu. It is running at about 20fps on a 3ghz dual core cpu, the screen resolution is 800x600. Other features include: Normal mapping Gloss mapping Depth of Field Oren nayar model for diffuse light Torrance-sparrow model for specular light Bloom Tone mapping Multithreaded (16 threads)
