Former Republican Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced today that she will be resigning as governor of Alaska. In a surprise announcement, she did not give a reason why she decided to step down, but it is already stirring speculation she wants to focus on a bid for the 2012 Republican nomination for president. She will step down July 26th and be replaced by Sean Parnell at the end of the month.

After it was reportedly confirmed that Michael Jackson would have a public memorial service at his Neverland Ranch it is now being reported that plans have changed. Radar online is exclusively reporting that his memorial service will take place Tuesday, July 7th at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. This is where Michael spent his last night rehearsing for his upcoming London concerts. Jackson died the next day.

A Rep for the Jonas Brothers has just confirmed that Kevin Jonas, who is 21, is engaged to his longtime girlfriend, Danielle. His parents also released a statement confirming the engagement and expressed they were extremely happy about the news. 24-year-old Gregory mccalium, as seen in this mug shot, attempted to rob his 72-year-old neighbor Frank Corti. He broke into his neighbors home with a knife not realizing Corti was a retired professional boxer. His attempted burglary went extremely wrong as the former boxer disarmed the intruder and landed two shots, one to his eye and one to his lip. To add insult to injury, mccalium was sentenced to 4 ½ years in prison for his attempted crime.
