The Liberated Chanteuse was written and performed by Stephanie Glass Solomon for Take-A-Hike for Cancer Research. Her two benefit shows in 1996 and 1997 included narratives about older women as well as songs expressing various aspects of wisdom and age. The centerpiece of the work was the poem "In the Hospital" by Patricia Goedicke, put to music by Gary Nesteruk and combined with Arthur Schwartzs classic tune, "Alone Together."
