Winter Weather update for the KC area
A winter storm could be setting its sites on Kansas City. A white Christmas is likely, but just how much snow we see is still in question.

Another cold blast will be dropping temperatures to around 20 degrees tonight. Tomorrow, the cold air will remain entrenched across the area keeping highs down around 30. Slight warming towards Thursday before another cool down in store for the weekend.

High pressure to our east will provide us with warmer weather for the weekend. Highs will be in the middle 40s, which is right around normal. A weak storm system will give us a chance for light rain Saturday night into Sunday. A cold blast of air will be on our doorstep Monday, and looks to affect our area as we head into Tuesday.

Scattered flurries and cold temperatures are the rule today! Very windy conditions and falling temperatures will mean wind chill near if not below 0 this afternoon, with a low tonight of 10 degrees. Winds will be very strong gusting to near 45 miles per hour at times. Winds will relax on Thursday, and we will see some sun, however high will only climb to around 26.

A major winter storm will be affecting parts of the Midwest this week, however here in St. Louis, we will most likely be seeing rain as the storm system will pull in large amounts of warm air ahead of it. We could see a quick period of a light mix when the precipitation start tomorrow, but it will likely change over to all rain during the day. As the storm pull away on Wednesday, there is a chance for a brief change over to some light snow, but no accumulations are expected at this time....

Cold air will remain across the area through the weekend meaning more below normal temperatures. A week system will spin by to our north on Sunday into Sunday evening bringing a chance for light snow or a light mix of rain and snow Sunday night.

Rain likely this afternoon changing over to a brief period of snow late this afternoon and evening. Little in the way of accumulation as ground temperatures are very warm and most of the snow will melt on contact. After the storm moves away, very chilly air will settle in for Thursday and Friday.

Sunny skies will lead to highs near 50 this afternoon, and even warmer with highs near 60 tomorrow afternoon. However the warm spell is short lived as cold air invades on Wednesday, and there is a chance of snow, yes snow in the forecast!!
