The Empire Builder continues its journey east with the warbonnet still leading and looking good! The LSE-WDL segment took somewhat longer as we were limited to 70mph with the BNSF. We also met three freights(CP ???, CP 199, and CP 487) along the route and has to wait for one to clear the mainline.

Now were racing through one of my favorite towns on the CP Tomah Sub. and where some of my family resides. This felt like a little Deja Vu as less than a week ago on Christmas Day, I caught #8 with another warbonnet passing by Mauston.

Always a neat site as we pass through the only active railroad tunnel in Wisconsin located in Tunnel City.

Another sweet holiday surprise as another warbonnet finds in roll in leading the Empire Builder Amtrak #8 to Chicago. Here BNSF 716 leads AMTK 133 and 117 into La Crosse about 2 hours late. I jumped on board for the ride to Wis. Dells!

The CP local G72 leaves the La Crosse yard and heads across the Mississippi to interchange with the ICE/DME in La Crescent. CP 4611 and 4433 lead.

Not long after G68's roll by, the roadswitcher once again blocks crossing near the Amtrak depot as they switch cars around for different pick ups.

SOO 4434 heads to the CP La Crosse yard passing the Amtrak depot with a friendly wave and horn from the crew!! This was the power for CP Local G68.

Its back to work for the East/South Local. Here they pass through Prairie du Chien on the way to Crawford WSOR Interchange, after working north of town. GE B40-8W's 504 and 510 are working this week. pjtesar101 also caught this train! www.youtube.com

First of all Happy Holidays to all fellow railfans!! I was not expecting this at all. The eastbound Empire Builder was running about 1.5 hours late and here its seen passing by the CTY N crossing east of Mauston. Due to most likely a locomotive break down, a BNSF freight locomotive was put on the point for the rest of the trip. In the lead is BNSF 732, an ex Warbonnet. The P42's are 145 and 94.
