Nearly 1000 residents came downtown for the annual tree lighting ceremony and free skate night at the Rink on the River. Reno's Hot August Nights organizers and volunteers teamed up with Burger King and the City of Reno to announce its annual coat drive. The news event took place at the Good Shepherd Clothes Closet located on the Community Assistance Center campus. Truckee Meadows Water Authority is replacing the flume in Mogul that feeds water from the Truckee River to the Chalk Bluff Storage and Treatment Plant. The engineering for the project is environmentally friendly, which made it eligible for a low interest loan in President Obama's Stimulus Package. TMWA hired contractor Reno Tahoe Construction to lay 8400 feet of pipe into a fifteen foot deep trench and 38-hundred feet of concrete boxes.
