The Olympic Torch Relay continued to cruise through Chatham-Kent this morning (Dec. 23, 2009) and made stops in the communities of North Buxton and Tilbury, after leaving Chatham bright and early. As the flame arrived in Tilbury at around 8 am, the Chatham-Kent Daily Post climbed a board a specialiazed "media vehicle" in order to follow each of the torchbearers in the community.

Tilbury resident Christopher Beausoleil lit a piece of Chatham-Kent history on Tuesday night (Dec. 22, 2009). Beausoleil, the final torchbearer for Chatham-Kent's Olympic Torch Relay, ran down the run way and through a crowd of hundreds of Chatham-Kent residents, before lighting the Olympic cauldron. After taking a tour of the Chatham Capitol Theatre construction site in June, the Chatham-Kent Daily Post had the opportunity to tour the site once again this past Friday (Dec. 11). Bob Fox, project manager for the Capitol Theatre project, led the tour once again and showed the latest updates in construction, including the fly tower area, which was not constructed this past June. Grade 6, 7 and 8 students from Dresden, Bothwell, Thamesville and Dawn-Euphemia gathered at Lambton-Kent Composite School in Dresden on Friday (Dec. 11) for the "LKCS Olympics". The Chatham-Kent Police Service were in Ridgetown on (Dec. 2) to hold a training session at the local high school. The exercise consisted of a mock scenario of a school shooting, and showcased the local police forces new SPEAR program (School/Police Emergency Action Response).
